Personal Development

At Kingsway Infant School, we are proud to encourage all children to develop their confidence, resilience and independence. Personal development is part of everything we do at our school. It is planned into and included in our curriculum, lessons, interactions with others, school trips, assemblies, performances and events. We want all of our children to develop self-awareness, empathy, and the skills to form positive relationships, understand their feelings and stay safe and healthy. Our goal is to prepare children to become responsible, respectful, sustainable and capable members of society.

We are committed to providing an exciting and purposeful curriculum that ensures children are ready for the next step in their school life and in the wider world. In all curriculum areas, we consider how we can promote personal development skills. These skills are particularly evident in our PSHE, RSHE, RE and behaviour curriculums. They are also shown in how we teach Zones of Regulation and British Values in our school and in our KS1 ‘Heads Up Kids’ lessons. At Kingsway Infant School, we are committed to embracing and encouraging the many talents and interests of our children. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities, trips and leadership opportunities. These opportunities are inclusive and well planned to ensure all children have a range of experiences during their time at our school.

Some examples of extra-curricular personal development activities include:

· Dance festival through The School Sports Partnership
