History
At Kingsway Infant School, we aim to inspire all children to become curious, skilled, and knowledgeable historians with an understanding of the past and present. Children learn to interpret a range of sources, ask questions, and use historical vocabulary to explore events, people, and communities from the past.

Our History curriculum develops knowledge and skills progressively, helping children understand how past events and people have shaped the world today. We encourage children to develop a secure sense of chronology and recognise how actions and events influence the future. Learning is revisited through a range of themes and cross-curricular opportunities to embed knowledge and strengthen historical skills. Through History, we also aim to inspire creativity, engagement, and a deeper enjoyment of learning.

More information about our KS1 curriculum can be found below. Children in EYFS are taught key skills through the ‘Understanding the World’ strand of their curriculum.
