Reception Curriculum

Our Reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework, which sets standards for the learning, development, and care of children from birth to five years. It ensures children learn effectively, stay safe and healthy, and gain the skills needed for the next stage of their education.

Our Reception classrooms have access to a shared outdoor area for learning and play throughout the day.

We provide engaging opportunities across the seven areas of learning:

  • Communication and Language: developing speaking, listening, and confidence

  • Physical Development: building coordination, movement, and healthy habits

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development: supporting relationships, behaviour, and self-confidence

  • Literacy: early reading and writing through a rich range of texts

  • Mathematics: developing counting, number skills, and understanding shape and measure

  • Understanding the World: exploring people, places, technology, and the environment

  • Expressive Arts and Design: encouraging creativity through art, music, movement, and role play

More detailed information about what your child will learn in all areas of the curriculum can be found in the half-termly plan below.
