RE

At Kingsway Infant School, we believe Religious Education (RE) supports and strengthens every aspect of school life. Our caring ethos and commitment to developing the whole child — spiritually, morally, socially, culturally and intellectually — are reflected throughout the RE curriculum.

RE encourages pupils to explore important questions about beliefs, values, faith and what it means to be human. Through learning about Christianity and other major religions and worldviews, children develop understanding, respect and the ability to consider different viewpoints in an increasingly diverse society.

Religious Education (RE) is not a National Curriculum subject, but must be provided for all registered pupils in state-funded schools in England, unless withdrawn by their parents/carers. Our school uses the Jigsaw RE curriculum as the basis for our curriculum planning. We adapt the scheme where necessary to reflect our school community.

Our aim is for all pupils to gain meaningful knowledge and understanding of religions and worldviews, while developing their own sense of identity, curiosity and empathy.

More information about our RE curriculum can be found below.
